Expert gentling programs focused on preparing wild mustangs and burros for loving homes.
Training
Preparing mustangs and burros for domestic life using gentle but firm, kind and fair training methods. We aim to equip each animal with the basic skills to thrive in their future homes.
Homes
Our animals are eligible to be adopted into qualified, caring homes who can provide for their needs and offer ethical treatment.
Adoptions
Qualified adopters (applications are done with the BLM) will get updates on their animal's training progress, as well as matched with a suitable animal for their lifestyle, needs, and skill level.
Support
We offer support to adopters any time after adoption, regardless of the timeline - even years out! Every animal we gentle here is special to us. Our lines of communication are open to anyone, anytime, for help, questions, training sessions, etc. after adoption. Our goal is for every adopter and their animal to thrive.
Connection
We truly believe in feeling that "click" with a mustang or burro. For that reason, we do our best to match adopters and animals appropriately. We strongly encourage adopters to come out, observe training, and get to know their animal before they take them home.

Heather Conrad
Horse and donkey trainer

Heather has been working with mustangs and burros for nearly 9 years, and has been riding/training since she was 12. From Quarter Horses, Arabians, Thoroughbreds, and now mustangs and burros, she has a passion for always learning more and becoming the best trainer she can. Heather firmly believes we should never stop learning, never get full of ourselves, and ALWAYS maintain respect for the creatures we are privileged to know and work with. While she has competed in several past TIP Challenges with both mustangs and burros, her own mustang Elle holds her heart. Elle has dabbled in trail riding, search and rescue training, and has carried many novice riders around as well as helped Heather gentle other animals. Heather gentled Elle herself when Elle was a 2 yr old, where they went on to compete in and win a TIP Challenge. Here at Conrad Horsemanship, she is a beloved ambassador to the abilities of the mustang.

Heather stands in her belief that everyone should have the opportunity to learn about horses and donkeys. She loves to train and teach. Being partnered with Forever Branded is an honor; she is able to help find animals loving homes as well as educate and enable adopters to realize their dreams of bringing a BLM branded animal home.
